Open Access Policy
1. Statement of Open Access Commitment
TSUJCMS is a fully Open Access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to individual users or their institutions. In accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition, users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. We believe that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge, breaks down financial barriers for researchers in developing economies, and accelerates advancements within the fields of communication and media studies.
2. Licensing and Copyright (Creative Commons)
· Licensing Framework: All articles published by TSUJCMS are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence.
· Permitted User Rights: This licence permits any user to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapt (remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially), provided appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and TSUJCMS, a link to the licence is provided, and any changes made are clearly indicated.
· Retention of Copyright: In alignment with modern publishing standards, authors retain unrestricted copyright and full publishing rights for their manuscripts. They grant TSUJCMS a non-exclusive, perpetual licence to host, publish, and distribute their work.
3. Self-Archiving and Repository Policy (Green Open Access)
TSUJCMS encourages and permits authors to archive all versions of their articles in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories (such as Social Science Research Network - SSRN), or personal/professional websites (such as ResearchGate and Academia.edu).
· Preprints: Authors may share their initial, un-reviewed preprint manuscript at any time.
· Postprints (Accepted Manuscripts): Authors may archive the accepted, peer-reviewed version of their manuscript immediately upon formal acceptance.
· Published Version (Version of Record): Authors are highly encouraged to deposit the final publisher-formatted PDF (Version of Record) into their institutional archives or repositories immediately upon publication, ensuring proper linking via the original article's URL or Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
4. Preservation and Digital Archiving
To ensure that all published research remains permanently accessible and readable for future generations of scholars, TSUJCMS maintains a digital preservation strategy. In addition to being securely archived on the Taraba State University servers, the journal's full-text metadata is actively submitted to global open-access discovery repositories, ensuring long-term digital preservation and immunity against platform disruptions.
